Salt Culture Museum

Salt Culture Museum Salt Culture Museum
The Museum of Salt Culture is for importance included in the official guide of the European Union dedicated to the museums of the Mediterranean.

The museum, located in the mill, was commissioned by the Culcasi family in 1983. It is located along the Via del Sale route, in a traditional windmill used for the milling of salt crystals. The farm is in stone with lowered arches, and was built in the 19th century. The museum gives an in-depth knowledge of the salt workers’ work through the centuries, through the exhibition of traditional work tools and a precious collection of historical photographs. It is possible to organize visits during the salt collection and taste delicious local products on long tables set in one of the rooms of the museum that overlook the typical salt mounds (monticoli), covered with terracotta tiles.
