Buseto Palizzolo
The village itself, because of its several well-kept gardens, is considered a garden-city by its inhabitants. Even its name talks about nature and land. “Busith” comes from Arabic and means “land”, meaning farmhouse. Palizzolo, instead, comes from the name of the Norman family to which these lands were entrusted in the XVI century by Carlo V.
All around, scattered in the surrounding territory, there are several “bagli”, the famous ancient rural buildings with a timeless charm that, like old sages, contemplate the passing of the centuries.
From Buseto Palizzolo a walk in the enchantment of the Bosco di Scorace is a must. The wood has traditionally belonged to the ancient Baronia di Arcudaci (from which it derives its present name) and it’s now a real open-air botanical museum, where walkers can come across cork oaks, holm oaks, pines, cypresses, brambles, Mediterranean scrub, broom bushes, wild flowers, wild berries, strawberry trees, blackberries and blueberries, hawthorn, stingray, myrtle and various aromatic herbs. Rare varieties of mushrooms also grow here, including the famous black porcini of Scorace.
