Buseto Palizzolo

Buseto Palizzolo Buseto Palizzolo
Do you know those little villages where you happen to stop, almost by accident, maybe on a Sunday morning, to be amazed by their beauty? Buseto Palizzolo is such a village, certainly less famous than the nearby Erice, but a place where it is worth going for stopping.
Nature has been very generous with this territory and has given this area one of the most fertile sceneries of the whole island. Over the centuries man has benefited from this gift by cultivating olive groves, vineyards and orchards which today surround the small municipality.

The village itself, because of its several well-kept gardens, is considered a garden-city by its inhabitants. Even its name talks about nature and land. “Busith” comes from Arabic and means “land”, meaning farmhouse. Palizzolo, instead, comes from the name of the Norman family to which these lands were entrusted in the XVI century by Carlo V.

All around, scattered in the surrounding territory, there are several “bagli”, the famous ancient rural buildings with a timeless charm that, like old sages, contemplate the passing of the centuries.
From Buseto Palizzolo a walk in the enchantment of the Bosco di Scorace is a must. The wood has traditionally belonged to the ancient Baronia di Arcudaci (from which it derives its present name) and it’s now a real open-air botanical museum, where walkers can come across cork oaks, holm oaks, pines, cypresses, brambles, Mediterranean scrub, broom bushes, wild flowers, wild berries, strawberry trees, blackberries and blueberries, hawthorn, stingray, myrtle and various aromatic herbs. Rare varieties of mushrooms also grow here, including the famous black porcini of Scorace.

So, let yourself be amazed by the beauty of Buseto Palizzolo!
